Thread: I've never read Stephen King

    I've never read Stephen King

Now that I'm finishing the last novel by Terry Pratchett, I need a new author to go through.
Does anyone have a particular Stephen King novel that you think is the best?

    May I ask, why now?

I read a lot of Stephen King in middle/high school.

Ok, scrolled through 1-21. Talisman was a favorite.
Of course, can't go wrong with the top 10.
The Stand was also a favorite.

I was reading Lovecraft when I was younger.
I considered King as derivative and 'trendy' so I stayed away from him.
Yes, my kids read him when they were younger.

BTW, I read the Harry Potter series only a year or so ago.
I didn't know there was an age limit on books.

There IS no age limit on books. The Stand was good as well, and Gunslinger exceptional.

The Dark Half, Salem's Lot, The Shining, The Stand, Carrie.

    Unadulterated genius.

As a rule of thumb, you're good with anything King, pre-sobriety.
