    Where the Spirit Lives is a story about some young Native-Canadians who were taken from their tribal lands in the 1900s and forced into a Canadian school. If even part of the story about the treatment in those schools is correct it is very disturbing. Forced to forget their heritage and "live white"

    Yes, the story of Residential Schools. Primarily run by the various churches, who have since apologised. Generations of First Nations people were traumatised by culture shock, and in many cases, physical, emotional, and sexual abuse. Currently, reconciliation and monetary compensation are in the works. It will be a long time before the stain of this is lifted from the Canadian conscience.
