It has been around -- and I do mean around -- for quite a while, played mostly on country music radio stations.

First released in 1947, "a cover version performed by Phil Harris stayed on the charts for 4 weeks, reaching number 8 on the "Best Sellers in Stores" chart. [Tex] Williams made a stereophonic re-recording of the song for Capitol in 1960 on the album, Smoke! Smoke! Smoke!. It has also been covered by Johnny Bond & His Red River Valley Boys in 1947, and by Sammy Davis, Jr., who hit # 89 on the Country Charts in 1982, Willie Nelson, Dennis Weaver, Michael Nesmith, Hank Thompson, Jimmy Dean, Commander Cody, (Billboard #94 in 1973), Asleep at the Wheel, and others. Thom Bresh, the son of the song's writer Merle Travis, hit #78 on the Country Charts with the song in 1978." -- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smoke!...hat_Cigarette)

People have known for many, many years that smoking is related to poor health and cancer.

ever notice how everyone used to rest their finger on the trigger prior to 1963, and afterwards everyone kept it straight?
its akin to trying to lead a horse by holding a carrot near its butt..........it just aint gonna work

Proper firearms safety never goes out of style

I've been familiar with firearms for much of my life, including a gun safety course when I was 12 or 14. I don't recall this finger on/off the trigger was taught. First time I saw this was just a few years ago, in fact. Good idea, but I don't specifically remember it.
