Should felons have their 2A rights restored?

    Head scratcher extraordinaire:

(A lot of things to consider here, but I always like to hear the thoughts and thinking processes of others.)

    1. In some states, felons are able to request their rights be restored after time.

    2. Do you believe all gun laws are unconstitutional? You probably should since all laws are man-made and rights are "God-given."

    3. How about the "What part of 'shall not be infringed' don't you understand" argument? Perhaps felons should have their rights infringed while they serve their sentence, but what about afterwards?

    4. Are you afraid of armed felons, regardless of their crime? "An armed society is a polite society." Do you think felons would be running rampant with guns doing whatever they like if society was armed and trained en masse, free to police their own liberty? Would it have a wild west resemblance in this day and age? Or would it actually cauterize the problems of ineffective gun control laws proven in practice and not just in theory?

    5. Should felons convicted on non-violent crimes be afforded more leeway or special consideration? Felons can be murderers, but they can also be drug dealers who never did anything but chase profits on a product. If they never hurt anyone directly, should they be allowed the same freedom to protect themselves after release?

    6. If a felon is released early, should they have their rights restored at the time of release? At the end of the term of their original sentence? Never at all?

    7. Are you technically punishing felons for crimes they actually haven't committed once they pay their debt to society and are released? We're supposed to be innocent until proven guilty and taking someone rights away for longer than the actual sentence for the crime they did commit is literally removing their rights based on crimes they MIGHT commit or won't at all.

    8. Would lawmakers and judges change existing laws or sentences if felons were granted 2A rights upon release? In other words, would judges hand out life sentences instead of 25 year sentences to prevent felons from earning their rights back? If a felon receives a 25 year sentence and is released after 15, should the felon get the rights back after the 15 (time of release), wait until the 25 is up (full sentence), or never get them back due to judges taking this into consideration and handing out life sentences like a grandma with butterscotch candy.

    9. If you restore non-violent felons' rights, are you obligated to restore violent felons' rights as well since gun laws are unconstitutional and they've been released after serving their sentence?

    10. If felons can't be trusted with their 2A rights upon release or after their full sentence is up, why are they being released at all?

    Not all felonies are equal.

if felons were to have better " rights " at dispositions of firearms, their sentances would be either longer, or parole boards would grant releases less often.
its akin to trying to lead a horse by holding a carrot near its butt..........it just aint gonna work

Abolish all gun laws. Everybody gets a gun that wants one, including incarcerated felons.

Gun laws have never served any purpose but to extract money for the government and keep guns out of the hands of people that should have them, not a valid reason to in any way diminish 2A. All gun laws are unconstitutional. If people want guns, people should have guns, from cradle to grave.

It would also drive home the point that if you can't do the time, don't do the crime.
