And I got my first chance to do that on the way home.. My buddy had a big hill in his yard, perfect to unload a bike..

So, I unloaded it and.. It wouldn't fucking start.

It was getting late so I called a wrecker and that is how it came to the shop..

Problem turned out to be float stuck closed. Carb is an old zenith/bendix from a sportster. Doesn't belong, but it seemed to work okay for the seller. It fired right up for him, cold.

So, I cleaned it and then it stuck again.. This time open and flooded the side of the engine with gasoline. Tapped the bowl and it stopped and then it stuck again on its kickstand and flooded the engine with gasoline and contaminated my oil. (Because the bike leans that way on the stand. They all do.)

    SOOOOOOOO.. Now its like

Rip the bendix thing off.. This is getting expensive. An Amsoil oil change for a shovel is approaching a hundred bucks.

Order a Super E S&S carb.. It arrives today. It comes complete with a jet kit.

I had no idea how huge they are. Ordered carb only because their breathers are ugly and they want 200 for them alone. (Cheaper with a kit)

Learned I can't mod the stock air cleaner for the carb.. Which, I kinda liked.

It doesn't fit my intake, but I knew it wouldn't. My throttle cable won't work EITHER.. So, I order a throttle kit.. May or may not use all of it. And a ginormous fuel filter to keep this from happening again with new carb.

Now I'm figuring out the wiring mess.. So, it looks like this:

You'll need the whole backing plate/air cleaner assembly to use the S&S That's how they mount dem tings to the engine n stuff

Then, having fixed all that, they proceed to melt the relay connector for the starter, and start it with a bolt on spring thing that manually shorts the solenoid.

You see, this is because REAL Harley men are very macho, and they don't need that extraneous crap.. They can start their bikes with their butt cheeks, and prefer to signal lane changes with a flaming rag wrapped around their cocks.. As opposed to using lamps, like lesser riders.

Even brake lights are unnecessary for the REAL Harley man... Who simply refer to it as "Pussy light #7"

Oh, I fixed it.. It's just that I've never seen someone so.. "anti-wiring" that they even disassembled the frekking handelbar grips to snip at it from the buttons themselves.

You would think unplugging the turn signals would have been sufficient?

In fact, I doubt disabling the brake lights was intentional, but was a result of the wild wire snipping they did.

And the fucking starter.. Why would someone do that?

    lol.. What a mess..

That's an ex-gf wiring job, I'll bet. I knew a guy whose ex shot his scooter up while he was in stir. One went right through a cylinder. It still ran

Because they knew someone somewhere would eventually come along and buy it for a project. Needs paint too.

I bought it from a young guy who obviously knows nothing about Harleys.. Even compared to me, and I know very little.

He said he bought it from an older neighbor who was in ill health, but was a biker to his core..

I believe that after seeing it. It all fits.

I haven't quite figured out the "enricher" yet.. Dunno if it is a little pump shot or what exactly.

It is new, so I don't want to take it apart and do an exploratory.

But there is no choke whatsoever on this carb. None on the one I removed, either. And I thought all the factory carbs had them?
