    Where is Rev. Doomsday?

Losing a parent depends on what type of relationship you have with him/her.

I lost my mom in Aug 208 to COPD/Emphysema. She suffered so badly, it was almost a relief when she passed. She was a HEAVY smoker til '77 or so, but by then the damage had been done. Never really bothered me that she died, until a couple/3 months later, I'd pick up the phone to call her, & then go, "Uhh, no, can't do THAT anymore..." She didn't even get to come to my wedding in Dec 207, & she & my wife didn't really get to bond much beyond a patient/nurse kind of thing-My wife is an RN, & did get to take care of my mama a little. They would have been big buds, I'm pretty sure of that. Its TOUGH to lose a parent, but I did get to have my Mom around for 50 years, & my Dad is still alive.

But my mom is prolly the reason I never smoked. I remember her dressing me for church when I was a tadpole, feckin' cigarette hangin' outta her mouth, alternately taking slugs of coffee, drags offa the cigarette, & fighting w/me, blowing smoke in my face...Gawd, Mama, do you HAVE to do that ?!? Now, I can hardly STAND to be around a smoker...I get "Tightened up" in my throat even if I'm around tobacco hangin' in a barn, being cured...I used to smoke a cigar about once every 6 months or so to remind myself how bad I HATE 'em...

Once my parents died the only 2 people I felt I owed anything to were gone. Now I'm debt free.
